Department of Geodesy and Gravimetry aims to create a complete geodetic research network, and monitor and solve geodetic tasks for scientific, as well as civil objectives. Precisely for this purpose, through global navigation satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO) the observations are carried out in the territory of Georgia for the purposes of exploring the results of movement on the earth crust and its deformation. For information regarding the network, follow the link: GNSS network. The existing GNSS network is used and is planned to be used to accomplish different geophysical tasks, such as providing weather forecast, observing the ionosphere, getting notifications of strong earthquakes, as well as highly accurate coordinates, etc.   For the purposes of studying the structure of the earth crust, vertical height variations, tectonic fractures, tides, earth deformation caused by oceans/seas, as well as micro and regional gravitational anomalies resulting from oil/raw materials or other reasons, gravitational observations are underway. The department is involved in educational programs of ISU and enables the university students to undergo practical trainings. Through different geodetic technologies and methods, the department carries out economic activities about which, you can get accurate information by clicking the link: services
